About Omsi-Hub

What is Omsi-Hub?

Omsi-Hub turns OMSI 2 into a working bus job. You drive real duties from the timetable, run your own bus company if you like, build a career that counts, and drive with friends on the same roads. It is an add-on for openOMSI.

Is Omsi-Hub finished?

Not yet. Omsi-Hub is in beta: it works, but expect bugs, missing pieces and changes between versions. The roadmap shows what is still coming.

Is it free?

Yes. Download it and play it: no payment, no subscription and no adverts. If you would like to support it, you can on Ko-fi.

Does Omsi-Hub replace openOMSI?

No. Omsi-Hub is an add-on for openOMSI: it builds on the openOMSI you already have and uses its plugin API. You keep openOMSI, and Omsi-Hub adds the duties, the company, the career and the online features to it.

Who makes Omsi-Hub?

Omsi-Hub is a non-commercial fan project. It is not affiliated with the makers or publishers of OMSI 2, and it is a separate project from openOMSI.

Download and install

What do I need to play?

openOMSI 0.2.22 or newer, an original OMSI 2 (Steam or retail), and Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) or macOS on Apple silicon or Intel. All the details are on the download page.

Do I need OMSI 2?

Yes. Omsi-Hub plays the maps, buses and mods of your installed OMSI 2 through openOMSI. It brings no game content of its own.

Which openOMSI version do I need?

openOMSI 0.2.22 or newer; we recommend the latest release. Older versions are refused. A few extras need a newer openOMSI plugin API than the official releases have yet; the launcher shows which ones your openOMSI supports, and everything else keeps working without them.

Does it work on a Mac?

Yes, on Apple silicon (M1 and later) and on Intel. Omsi-Hub is not signed by Apple yet, so the first time you right-click Omsi-Hub.app and choose Open. The disk image's "Read me first (Mac)" explains how to bring in OMSI 2's content.

And Linux?

Linux is on its way. As soon as a release carries it, it appears on the download page by itself.

Does it change my openOMSI or OMSI 2 installation?

No. Omsi-Hub keeps its own data and doesn't change the files of openOMSI or OMSI 2. Mods you add go into Omsi-Hub's own folder.

Can I use my maps, buses and mods?

Yes. Omsi-Hub uses what is installed in your OMSI 2: its maps, its buses and its mods. Every bus you have installed even stands in the dealer's showroom of the bus company.

How do updates work?

When a new version is out, the app asks at the start and, with your yes, downloads it and restarts.

Playing

What is the difference between a work shift, a tour and a free drive?

Work shift: you pick how long you want to drive and when, and Omsi-Hub puts a shift together from the timetable's real trips, changing line where lines meet. Tour: one bus's trips on one line, the way OMSI's timetable plans them; you pick the line, the tour and the first trip. Free drive: just a map and a bus, with traffic and the timetable's buses around you and nothing booked.

Which maps can I drive?

The maps installed in your OMSI 2. Work shifts and tours are built from the map's timetable, so they need a map with one; a free drive works on any map.

How do points and levels work?

Every duty goes into your service record: hours, kilometres, punctuality and tickets. Distance, stops served on time, tickets sold and time driven earn points; crashes, hurting pedestrians and rough driving cost points. Points move you up in levels.

What is the navigator?

Your duty board in the game: the trip you are on, the stops ahead with their times, and whether you are on time. Open it with Shift+N.

Can I use my phone or tablet?

Yes. Under Settings › General › Phone & tablet you sign on, open the duty menu and use the bus's screens on a phone or tablet. It only works inside your own home network.

Can I make my own lines and liveries?

Yes. Omsi-Hub is built to create, too: a line editor, timetables, a depot editor, a livery studio and map objects. See the editors.

The bus company

What is the bus company mode?

Your own transport company on a map you own in OMSI 2. Buy, lease or rent buses, hire drivers, win lines in tenders or draw your own, plan every duty and drive the ones you want yourself. The rest of your company keeps running around you. More on the bus company page.

What are Casual, Normal and Realistic?

Three ways to run a company. Casual: everything automatic, a simple screen of its own, the company plans itself. Normal: the full company with hints along the way; the roster repairs itself every morning. Realistic: real-life wages, prices and rules, and every plan and every repair is yours. You choose per company and can change it any time in the company's settings; your buses, people, lines, money and history stay as they are.

What is RosterFlow?

RosterFlow is Omsi-Hub's planning tool for bus scheduling and crew rostering: the timeplan, vehicle blocks, driver duties and the roster. It is an optional add-on in Normal and Realistic; in Casual the company plans itself.

Can I run more than one company?

Yes. You can run several companies, each with its own map, colours and game mode.

Can I run a company with friends?

Yes. When you share a company, your friends join with your session code and the launchers connect directly to each other, with roles and permissions per player. Nothing of this goes through our servers.

What happens to my company while I am away?

Your company has its own clock. Let time run, jump an hour or to tomorrow, or follow the real clock; after a long absence it catches up, up to 31 days.

Account and online

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works offline on your own PC. An account only adds the online parts: friends, playing together, the leaderboard and cloud saves.

How do I make an account?

On this website, with your email address and a password, or with your Google account. The app's "Create an account" brings you to the same page. You need to be 16 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian.

I did not get the email with my code.

Look in your spam or junk folder first. On the code screen you can ask for a new code. Still nothing? Report it and we will look into it.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in page, choose "Forgot your password?". You get an email to choose a new one. Signed in with Google? Then there is no password: just use Continue with Google.

How do friends work?

Every account has a friend code. Give it to a friend, who adds you with it in the app under Online. Friends see whether you are playing, when you were last on, and your session code while you host, so they can join you. Only your friends see that.

How do I get on the leaderboard?

Sign in to your Omsi-Hub account in the app and switch on "Show me on the leaderboard". Your display name and service record then appear on the leaderboard. Switch it off and you are gone from the board at once.

What are cloud saves?

With an account you can keep up to two of your companies in the cloud, so you can carry on on another computer. Only you can reach them. Your other companies stay on your own PC, as many as you like.

How do I delete my account?

In My Omsi-Hub under Security, or in the app under Account › Delete account. That erases everything at once: your profile, friends, invitations, statistics, bug reports and cloud saves.

Privacy and safety

What does Omsi-Hub do with my data?

Only what the features need. Without an account we receive nothing personal. With one, your data is kept in the EU (Frankfurt), we show no adverts and sell nothing. The Privacy Statement says exactly what, why and for how long.

Does the website use cookies?

No. The website uses no cookies and no tracking. It keeps your sign-in session, your theme and your language in your own browser, and nothing else.

What is the "playing now" counter?

While you play, the game tells openOMSI's counter that one more copy is running: a random id that is new on every start, the version and the kind of system. No name and nothing else from your computer. You can switch it off in Settings › General.

Can other players see my IP address?

Only when you play together: the launchers connect directly to each other, so anyone you give your session code to can see your IP address. Only give it to people you trust.

Help and support

I found a bug. What now?

Press Report a bug, at the foot of every page or in the app. Describe what you did and what happened. Signed in? Then there is nothing else to fill in. As a guest you can leave your email address if you would like an answer.

Can I lose my progress in the beta?

Things can change between beta versions. Keep a copy of the companies you care about, and use the cloud saves if you have an account. Something went wrong? Report it.

Can I suggest an idea?

Please do. Ideas from players go into the plan; the roadmap shows them, and what is coming. Send yours through Ko-fi or to info@omsihub.com.

How can I support Omsi-Hub?

Play it, report what goes wrong, and tell your friends. If you would like to, you can buy us a coffee on Ko-fi.

How do I reach you?

By email at info@omsihub.com. For bugs, the report button is the quickest way.
